Greek President honours liberation of Serres

The President of the Hellenic Republic Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou will pay a two-day visit to Serres, from today 28 June and 29 June, to attend the celebrations of the 108th anniversary of the liberation of the city.

According to her schedule, the President will start with a meeting at 18:15 at the town hall with the mayor of Serres Mr Alexandros Chrysafis and immediately after at 18:30 she will go to the Diocese to meet with the Metropolitan of Serres and Nigritis Mr. Theologos.

Following those meetings, there is a scheduled ceremony at 19:00 at the Archaeological Museum of Serres where Her Excellence will be declared an Honorary Citizen of Serres.

On Tuesday, June 29, at 10:00 in the morning, the President will attend a service at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Most Holy Brigadiers followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the statue of Emmanuel Papa in Freedom Square.

At 11:25 Mrs. Sakellaropoulou will have a meeting in the Regional Unit of Serres with the Deputy Regional Governor of Serres Panagiotis Spyropoulos, while at 12:45 she will visit the monasery of the Prophet Elias the Holy Spirit of Serres.

The President's visit to Serres will conclude with an anniversary concert at 21:00 at the Heroes Park of Serres with George Andreou and the choir of the Music School of Serres.
