Sugar Killer enters the Vegan and Sugar Free Dessert Scene in Greece

Sugar Killer

When you are under stress, a common reaction is to eat comfort food. Most people crave something sweet and will reach for options filled with added sugars, leaving them craving more and more due to the addictiveness of sugar.

Consuming too much refined sugar can also negatively impact your physical and mental health and should be avoided to live a healthy lifestyle.

We have found the perfect place in Greece to visit when you are searching for a sweet spot that not only offers sugar-free desserts but is also entirely vegan!

Sugar KIller

Sugar Killer is a dessert venue that began during the first quarantine in Greece as the owners realised that many would turn to comfort foods during stressful times. They wanted to provide sweet dessert options that were not full of sugar but were still full of flavour.

Sugar Killer was created after the owners combined healthy living whilst respecting all the animals on the earth.

Vegan options are continuously growing around Greece, and with the pandemic here, it was an extra push to become more health-conscious.

Sugar Killer welcomes everyone, no matter the flavour or dietary preference. No matter whether you are a full-on vegan, have a sweet tooth, are looking to reduce your sugar intake, or reduce your animal product intake whilst still enjoying the sweeter things in life.

All items found at Sugar Killer are certified vegan and refined sugar-free.

Sugar Killer is located in Pireaus, recently opened in Voula and is making its way into Athens in two weeks.

What makes these desserts sweet but guilt-free?

At Sugar Killer, the sweetness in desserts is from a plant called agave.

In Greek, agave goes by the name 'athanatos', meaning immortal.

Agave is a desert plant harvested to make tequila and sweet syrup. It was traditionally believed to have had healing properties.

There are many benefits of using agave syrups over refined white sugar, such as its low glycemic index.

Agave syrup is therefore absorbed into the bloodstream at a much slower rate so that it does not cause a rapid spike in insulin.

Through their Instagram account, @sugarkiller.gr show off their variety of menu items from Cookie Cups, Wacky Ice Cream flavours, Bubble Waffles, Bowls, Cinnamon Rolls to choco stuff donuts. Followers are continuously updated through their daily stories and re-shares by visitors.

Keep your eyes peeled for their opening soon in Athens! This is a venue to add to your dessert spot bucket list.
