The former Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Greece, Dimitris Lignadis, appeared defiant before a magistrate on Thursday, refusing to respond to new charges of rape against him
Lignadis, who is pending trial on charges of repeatedly raping two boys, issued instead through his lawyer Alexis Kougias a statement where he refutes the new allegations of raping a boy seven years ago and an adult in 2018.
Kougias said his client had filed an injunction against the investigator for prejudice, explaining Lignadis’ refusal to respond. He also charged that the entire case against the former director is related to “business games that judges and prosecutors are involved in,” and admitted that the detainee e “has his obsessions, but he was never a rapist.”
