Greece: 58 forest fires in 24 hours

Greece has been hit by 58 forest fires  over a 24 period since Sunday according to an announcement by the Fire Department.

A total of 708 firefighters, 321 vehicles, 6 helicopters and 3 aircraft were deployed to extinguish the fires, with the assistance of volunteer firefighters.

Most of the fires were dealt with immediately, in their initial stages, while the local investigative authorities, as well as the Arson Crimes Directorate (DAEE) are investigating their causes.
