The Greek Coast Guard has successfully rescued a 6-year-old girl who drifted out at sea in the coastal area of Nea Kallikratia, Halkidiki.
According to reports the young girl was on her inflatable mattress when strong currents starting pushing her further out at sea.
According to the announcement of the Coast Guard, the local emergency plan of the Port Authority of Nea Moudania was immediately executed and a patrol vehicle rushed to the area, while a patrol boat was mobilised.
Assisting the rescue efforts were also owners of marine recreational companies operating in the surrounding area who were informed of the incident and rushed to the spot where the mattress with the little girl was located and rescued in time.
Shortly afterwards, the 6-year-old was examined by a doctor and handed over to her parents.
