Tourism in Greece at 60% compared to 2019 so far

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sofia Zacharaki, spoke about her optimism for the course of tourism in Greece in 2021, which is moving at satisfactory levels.

As she told MEGA on Monday morning, bookings and arrivals per week are up compared to 2020.

"We are moving to 60% of 2019 so far. The messages are optimistic, as long as there is no reversal in the issue of the 'Delta' mutation," she noted.

The minister stressed the need for strict adherence to protection measures, both individually and by the police and businesses as "the virus has not passed."

At the same time, she did not clarify whether there will be financial support for businesses on the islands, which is a "breath" away from suffering if a lockdown is imposed.

"The most important message that Greece wants to send is the message of security," she said, adding: "And in Mykonos we return to normalcy, bookings were not greatly affected."

Regarding the quarantine hotels, she stated that there is an increased number of them in Corfu, Rhodes, Mykonos and Alonissos.
