14 new Olympic athletes test positive for covid-19

Some 14 Olympic athletes at the Tokyo Olympics have now tested positive for covid-19 in the last 48 hours since yesterday, Monday 26 July.

Two tennis players from the Dutch Olympic delegation were found to be positive for the coronavirus, but their names have not been made published. This unwelcomed development brings the tally of Covid positive Dutch delegation members to eight.

The sixth athlete to test positive was tennis player Jean Roger on Monday (26/7), which resulted in his withdrawal from from the men's doubles. Roger and his partner, Wesley Kolhoff, were immediately quarantined, according to the International Tennis Federation.

In addition, 12 security personnel, who work for the Tokyo Olympics, tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday (27/7).
