Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) that is in a ruling coalition with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), made new provocations by claiming that Cyprus is Turkish.
"Cyprus was, is and will remain Turkish," said Bahçeli when commenting on international reactions to the new illegal actions of Turkey and the pseudo-state of occupied northern Cyprus regarding the partial reopening of Varosha.
"47 years later, the political and strategic outcome of the 1974 peace operation has been revealed and the Turkish state of Cyprus has appeared on the horizon," said the ultra-nationalist leader.
"Cyprus was, is and will remain Turkish," he said, advocating the creation of two states on the island and firing on the United States and the European Union.
"In the current circumstances, it is impossible for a federal state to be established in Cyprus. Everyone must accept that in Cyprus there are two separate states.
"The refusal of the EU, the US, the Greek Cypriots and the Greeks to accept this reality is an insignificant detail for the Turkish Cypriots.
"The decision to open Famagusta is correct and for us the announcements of the USA, the UN Security Council are considered unfulfilled."
