Actor on rape charges hopes for early release from prison

Well known Greek actor Petros Filippidis is expected to appeal this week the temporary detention order which finds him held in Tripoli prison following allegations of one count of rape and two counts of attempted rapes.

According to a report in the newspaper "BAM tis Kyriakis", people close to the actor have confirmed that his legal team have already been ordered to exercise all legal remedies in order to get him out of the Tripoli prison where he has been since last Wednesday.

In the meantime Filippidis, who is currently in isolation due to coronavirus restrictions, will be transferred to a cell with another 18 detainees with whom he will share a  courtyard,  kitchens and canteen, in a community of 130 -140 prisoners.

According to the same reports, so far, Filippidis has asked to see his lawyer and his wife, Elpida Ninou.
