Dutch tourist fined €5,000 for violating COVID-19 protocols in Crete

A 35-year-old Dutch tourist was arrested at Nikos Kazantzakis Airport in Heraklion, as she tried to travel back to her country with a positive coronavirus test.

The 35-year-old Dutch woman was fined €5,000 and was arrested, Creta Post reported.

But the police checks did not stop here.

In Rethymno, a fine of €5,000was imposed on a tavern owner for exceeding the limit of people during a social event, while a 7-day padlock was imposed on his business.

In Rethymno, two employees of health stores were also fined for not using a mask.

In Chania for the same reason a fine was imposed on an employee of Chania airport while in Lassithi a fine of €300 was imposed on a supermarket customer for not using a mask.

In total, the controls in Crete amounted to 918.
