Greek Parliament welcomes US Ambassador ahead of Menendez meeting

The Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, welcomed yesterday the US Ambassador to Greece Mr Geoffrey Pyatt.

During their meeting both men discussed bilateral relations as well as details of the forthcoming visit to Greece by the Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Robert "Bob" Menendez.

After the meeting, the American Ambassador, accompanied by the Speaker, was given a tour of the Exhibition "Facing Freedom! In the Greek Parliament, two centuries later ", which takes place in the context of the celebration of the two hundred years since the Greek Revolution, in the two most monumental areas of the Parliament, in the Peristyle Plenary and in the ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ Hall.

Earlier in the day Mr. Tasoulas, offered his congratulations to Olympian Lefteris Petrounias, who won the bronze medal in the rings, today in Tokyo.

"Once again, our Rio Olympics gold medalist Lefteris Petrounias, makes us proud. The bronze medal he won today at the Tokyo Olympics, vindicates the hard work of this great athlete and great man, who despite the serious surgery he underwent, managed to stand out. Lefteris Petrounias is an example of dedication, perseverance and determination in the achievement of noble goals. Greece thanks him for the second consecutive Olympic medal he brings home."
