A 52 year old male in Kalamata with mental health issues murdered his 86 year old mother yesterday then attempted self-harm according to police reports.
The tragic event took place yesterday noon in the area of Mikri Mantineia, when a judicial officer and police officers went to the perpetrator's residence to execute a prosecutor's order and take him for a psychiatric examination and, if need be, to be treated.
However, according to the Police, when the 52 year old saw the police and the court official, he panicked, lost control, entered the house and fatally wounded his mother with a knife.
Police entered the house and found the man had attempted to hurt himself as well.
He was later taken to Kalamata hospital.
