Dendias: Greece will contribute to restoration of St. George Greek Orthodox hospital in Beirut

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias represented Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the 3rd International conference in support of the Lebanese people held online on Wednesday.

The conference is co-hosted by the United Nations and French President Emmanuel Macron on the day of Beirut's deadly port chemical explosion last year, and its purpose is to raise humanitarian aid for the Lebanese people.

Dendias said Greece will contribute to the Greek Orthodox hospital St. George, and will draft a report on the restoration of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, which was heavily damaged from the blast.

Greece was the first country to respond to a call for aid after the explosion at a chemical storage area that destroyed a major part of the port of Beirut, and had sent emergency teams the day after, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Fragogiannis.
