German tourists descend to Greece in droves despite heatwave and fires

The flow of German tourists into Greece continues unabated despite the heatwave and devastating fires sweeping the country said the German Travel Association (DRV).

According to the DRV, there have been no cancellations or change in holiday reservation in the the European south and Mediterranean countries battling fires, adding that the summer is not lost.

It noted that the holiday hotels of German travel agencies, especially reservations at the coastal ones, have been marginally affected.

DPA news agency reported that although there has been interest by German travellers to Greece and Turkey in finding out if the areas they plan to vacation have been affected by the fires, “there was no desire however to cancel or change the reservation,” it noted.
