PPC cancels energy debts of households destroyed by fire

The Public Power Corporation (PPC) will cancel certain charges on bills of households destroyed by recent fires, it said on Tuesday.

Specifically, it will write off all debts to PPC related to energy charges, regardless of whether they are current or expired.

In a statement, the company said this will take place as soon as it is informed by the registry of fire-afflicted households, and its clients will be notified in writing about the cancellation of debts.

It added that it expects the the write-off to be completed by the end of the year, and said this was its way of standing by people who were affected by the destructive fires in Greece.
