Stefanos Tsitsipas converts a seventh match point to beat Ugo Humbert 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 in Toronto!

A very good win for Stefanos Tsitsipas over Humbert 6-1 in the third. First win over Humbert in 3 matches and avenges his Olympic games loss. Tsitsipas one of the players who can win the Toronto Open.

The 2018 runner-up required two and a half hours to obtain a 6-3 6-7(13) 6-1 victory over Humbert, notching his first win in three career meetings against the Frenchman.

With Tsitsipas easily won the first set, it looked like Humbert would be having an early night.

However, the World No.27 fought to break back when his Greek opponent served for the match at 5-4.

A tiebreak ensued, during which Tsitsipas held five match points.

Nonetheless, Humbert remained resilient, attacking the net at the right moment before eventually claiming the 23-minute tiebreak to send the match into a decider.

However, it was all Tsitsipas in the final set as the third seed dominated from the baseline.

The World No.3 was in magic form on serve, winning 84% of points on his first serve. He was finally able to convert on his seventh match point, as he booked his spot in the round of 16.

The Greek champion will face the winner of the all-Russian battle between 15th seed Aslan Karatsev and Karen Khachanov.

Second seed Rafael Nadal had withdrawn from the National Bank Open Presented by Rogers due to a left foot injury, the tournament announced Tuesday.

“I have had this issue for a couple of months, as people know,” Nadal said. “Of course, it is not a happy situation after all the success that I had here in Canada, not being able to play this year after missing a year.
