Τhe two Russian aircraft "Ilyushin" with a capacity of 40 tons are operating near Mount Pateras in an attempt to effectively deal with the fire raging in the area.
According to the Fire Brigade, the blaze is raging on three fronts and is burning a pine forest on the hills of Mount Pateras, near Paleochori, Agios Sotiras and Paleokoundoura, but the situation is better that earlier on Tuesday.
The Fire Brigade said that no community is threatened, but the evacuation was earlier ordered because there are no roads for the rapid evacuation of residents, who due to the dense smoke could be trapped.
A total of 14 helicopters and 8 aircrafts are also operating as well as Beriev-200.
