Authorities on the island of Samos have arrested a 33 year old Ukrainian national accused of human trafficking.
Officers from the Samos Port Authority made the arrest following reports from a lifeboat that spotted him on the Dutch-flagged sailing vessel "DOUCEMENT", southwest of Samos.
Once intercepted the vessel was boarded by Greek port authority officers who discovered ten undocumented immigrants.
The Ukranian national was immediately arrested for illegal entry and trafficking of third country nationals, in violation of law 3386/05 and law 4251/14 (article 30).
The Samos Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, seized the vessel, an auxiliary boat with an outboard engine, a mobile phone, two geolocation devices, as well as the amount of 1,650 euros.
