Mitsotakis to discuss developments in Afghanistan with Erdoğan

Erdogan Mitsotakis on June 14, 2021.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak on the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at 19:30 on Friday.

According to a government’s announcement, Mitsotakis and Erdoğan will discuss the latest developments in Afghanistan.

Greece considers that contact with Turkey is necessary, as the wider region and especially the two countries may be affected by new refugee flows that will arise from the developments in Afghanistan and therefore face the same problem.

In any case, Greece will continue to show the same efficiency in guarding both land and sea borders, as it does to date.
