Triller’s Ryan Kavanaugh tells Mike Coppinger that contracts are “being sent today” for Teofimo Lopez’s eternally delayed mandatory title defense against George Kambosos Jr, which will land at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater on Tuesday, October 5th.
Per Kavanaugh, the PPV will run you either $19.99 by itself or $2.99 as part of the TrillerVerz monthly subscription series, which kicked off on August 3rd with Michael Hunter’s knockout of Mike Wilson.
This long, painful saga began in February when Triller crashed the purse bid out of nowhere to claim ownership of the matchup. First came a June 5th date, then a June 19th date that collapsed on fight week when Lopez (16-0, 12 KO) tested positive for COVID. Next came August 14th, which fell through when Lopez had lingering symptoms, then a spot on the September 11th De La Hoya-Belfort card also collapsed.
Kambosos’ (19-0, 10 KO) team tried to move the event to Australia in October, but the IBF ruled against it, leading to the current scenario.
