EVIA: Young Greek Police chief found shot dead in his car, leaves wife and baby behind

The 29 year old commander of Eretria Police station on the fire-stricken island of Evia was reportedly found dead in his car on Thursday night, near a park close to his work.

According to media reports, the victim was found shortly after 9:15pm, and was discovered to have sustained bullet wounds while his glock handgun was found inside the car.

Police are examining all possibilities, even that of suicide. A strong police presence attended the scene and cordoned off the area.

A special unit of the Homicide Department was dispatched to the scene in order to investigate the case in depth, along with a  team from the Lamia Forensic Investigations Unit.

The 29 year old policeman was recently married and had a two-month-old baby.
