Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent a message in favour of vaccinations against COVID-19, describing it as “completely absurd and unjust” for some to be afraid to get the vaccine.
“It is completely absurd and unfair for some people to be afraid to get the vaccine. There is no reasonable excuse,” the Patriarch said in an interview with MEGA.
“I call again for everyone to be vaccinated without reservation in order to avoid serious dangers that will lead them to death.
“We as a church, as a religion, as the Ecumenical Patriarchate in particular, respect science, the representatives of science, the findings and discoveries of science and conform our lives to them.”
Regarding pandemic deniers and anti-vaxxers, Patriarch Bartholomew said that “they do not think correctly and do not think logically and do injustice to themselves and their fellow human beings because they can transmit coronavirus to their fellow human beings without realising it. There is a great danger.”
