After beating Italy, Greece swims to victory with silver medal at Women’s European Junior Championships

After beating  Italy 9 -7 in the finals, Greece's women's junior water polo team yesterday took out the second silver for 2021 at the Women’s European Junior Championships, in Sibenik after losing the gold to Russia.

The competition, which ended Sunday night (29/8) saw the girls of coach Alexia Kammenou suffer they only defeat from Russia with 12-8, in the final of the tournament and took the second place in the European Championship, with the bronze medal going to Hungary.

The Greek national team was initially leading 1-0, at the beginning of the game and the match was ambiguous, until  halftime, when Russia had taken a narrow lead with 3-2.

In the second half of the final, the Greek team did not manage to cope with the very high performing Russian team suffering a 12-8 defeat, but winning the silver medal.

The national team returns to Greece with a flight of Austrian Airlines, via Vienna, on Tuesday (31/8) at 01:10.
