Fitness guru Kayla Itsines reveals the 'secret Greek ingredient' behind her 'best bruschetta ever'

Fitness star Kayla Itsines has revealed that her 'secret ingredient' behind making the 'best bruschetta ever' is 'taramasalata' - or as us Greeks spell it 'taramosalata'.

Kayla credits many of her food choices to her Greek upbringing and heritage.

The 30-year-old from Adelaide shared exactly how she puts together her 'to die for' bruschetta with some of the Greek dip, sourdough bread, olive oil, diced cherry tomatoes, basil and some other herbs.

'Strawberry yoghurt on toast with tomatoes,' Kayla joked on Instagram.

'Okay, just kidding - this isn't yoghurt, it's my secret ingredient to making the best bruschetta ever. Here is how to recreate my Kayla special.'

To make Kayla's bruschetta, you'll need two slices of the bread of your choice, toasted.

Then, add a 'splash of olive oil' and spread a generous serving of taramasalata onto the bread, before layering on a 'handful of diced cherry tomatoes'.

'Garnish with chopped basil and herbs of your choice, and finish with a pinch of salt and pepper to your liking,' Kayla wrote.

'I promise this is to die for, as long as you have the secret ingredient.'

Ingredients

Two pieces of bread of your choice, toasted

Extra Virgin olive oil

'Taramasalata'

Chopped basil

Herbs

Handful of diced cherry tomatoes

Salt and pepper

METHOD 

1. Toast the slices of bread of your choice.

2. Add a splash of olive oil and then smear a generous serving of taramasalata over both pieces of the toast.

3. Layer on a handful of diced cherry tomatoes.

4. Garnish with chopped basil, the herbs of your choice and some salt and pepper.
