Coins and other objects of various historical periods were found in the possession of a 54-year-old man who was arrested in an area of Aridea in Pella.
The ancient objects were found in his house and, according to an archaeologist of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Pella, fall under the provisions of the law on protection of antiquities.
33 coins, a ring, a ring, a button, a piece of metal and pieces of beads were found in his possession.
Edessa Security Police are investigating how they were obtained and are examining whether they are the product of an illegal excavation, a version that seems to be reinforced by the fact that a metal detector was found in his possession.
A case was filed against the 54-year-old for violating legislation on antiquities and cultural heritage in general.
