EVROS: 25 year old Syrian refugee with gun shot wounds picked up by Greek police

Greek police found an injured 25 year old Syrian man with gun shots wounds to his right thigh in a coastal area of northern Evros.

According to the police the man had entered Greece illegally from Turkey, crossing the river Evros in a plastic boat.

Officers from the Orestiada Police Directorate located him around 1.15 in the afternoon near the settlement of Thourios, between Orestiada and Didymoteicho.

He was taken to the hospital of Didymoteicho where he underwent surgery.

The circumstances under which he was injured are being investigated by the Orestiada police department during a preliminary investigation.
