Mikis Theodorakis: Flags to fly at half-mast during three-day national mourning

Flags will fly at half-mast on all public buildings and all public events are postponed during the three-day period of national mourning pronounced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the death of composer Mikis Theodorakis.

The decision was taken by Interior Minister Makis Voridis, in line with relevant legislation.

The composer was most known for the the syrtaki from the film “Zorba the Greek” (1964).

Dying the age of 96, during his life he also became known for raising global awareness of Greece’s plight during the 1967-74 military dictatorship.
