Dr. Magiorkinis: Winter will be "hard" for the unvaccinated

Gkikas Magiorkinis

The upcoming winter will be a hard one for those who remain unvaccinated against the coronavirus, said doctor Gkikas Magiorkinis, speaking to AMNA radio station 'Praktoreio FM 104.9' on Saturday.

Also a member of the health ministry’s committee of coronavirus experts, the infectious diseases specialist noted that the biggest risk of infection for anyone who is not inoculated is the gradual return to indoor entertainment.

This is especially the case as temperatures slowly drop below 18C in late October and people stop seating outdoors in cafes, bars and restaurants.

These indoor spaces are hubs of transmissibility for COVID-19, said Magiorkinis, stressing that these are places that the unvaccinated will not be allowed into.

This preventative restriction "will not be taken to punish the unvaccinated," he explained, adding "but rather it will be taken exclusively for the purpose of risk management."
