Theodoros Tsanaklidis, leading Greek international referee dies aged 88

Theodoros Tsanaklidis, one of Greece's former international referees and one of the best in the country, passed away aged 88 reported Greek media.

Tsanaklidis, one of the top referees in Greece in the 1970s, when he was refereeing the top derby of the Greek championship, died in Kavala at the age of 88.

He belonged to the association of football referees of Kavala, from where he originated, while in his private life, he was a bank executive, managing branches of a large bank in Athens, Thessaloniki and of course Kavala.

In May 1978 he refereed the cup game between AEK and Olympiakos (6-1), while at the same time accredited also as an international referee.
