"Do not forget that in the end science will win" says Greek Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla

"Do not forget that in the end science will win" was the message of Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla yesterday to the participants of the Aristotle Medical Forum, an international conference organised by the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki (AUT) with the support and under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a videotaped message to conference delegates, the Pfizer CEO noted that Covid-19 is a global health threat that occurs once every 100 years and has put a huge strain on people's health systems and lives."

The world scientific community is now seeking to draw on the lessons learned from the treatment of Covid-19 for the benefit of all patients, "the millions of people suffering from other serious illnesses, people with equally urgent needs".

"The speed with which we interact with regulators, as well as the continuous acceleration of digital solutions, are just some of what we plan to apply in our clinical trials in the future, in order to continue to move at the speed of science," Bourla explained.

Referring to the new Pfizer centre in Thessaloniki, Bourla said that "he is happy for the excellent level of cooperation that governs the entire innovation ecosystem of the city", pledging that "from our side we will continue to contribute".

In Pfizer's centre in Thessaloniki, as he clarified, "already over 350 well-trained scientists are working, including expatriate Greeks and the investments we make in our facilities will further strengthen the innovation profile of our country".

The Aristotle Medical Forum which will conclude 11 September, will be held annually in the city of Thessaloniki and  aims at becoming a global scientific and social forum, a meeting place of Medical Science with Technology, Society and Industry by bringing together leading scientists from around the world to present the latest innovative developments in the field of Medical and Biomedical Technology with the aim of promoting Public Health.
