Three Turkish nationals trying to flee to Greece were arrested  by Turkish authorities according to pro-government newspaper YeniSafak.

According to the paper  "the three arrested belong to the FETO organization" and include a former navy officer, who had previously been convicted as a member of the organisation and was being monitored by the Turkish authorities.

During their surveillance, authorities claim the former navy officer purchased a boat worth 340,000 Turkish pounds as a means of escape to Greece.

It is noted that the FETO network of the self-exiled in the USA, Fethullah Gülen, has been characterized in Turkey as a "terrorist organization" while it has been accused by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan as being the instigator of the attempted military coup.

As reported, in addition to the boat, 15,000 Turkish pounds, 2,000 euros and 1,000 dollars that the detainees had on them were confiscated.
