A missing Cessna 172 aircraft which had gone off-radar over the waters near Samos Island on Monday night has been found to have tragically crashed in the sea, killing all occupants.
The single-engine aircraft coming from Israel, crashed in a sea area, near the airport of Samos island.
The plane tried to land on the island's airport, but failed and crashed into the sea, in the area of Potokaki (in Pythagorion), in southern Samos.
A rescue operation was immediately launched when first reported missing with authorities dispatching a Frontex boat, a Coast Guard boat and a Super Puma helicopter which rushed to the scene only to find wreckage from the aircraft.
