Two killed in aircraft crash near Samos island

A missing  Cessna 172 aircraft which had gone off-radar over the waters near Samos Island on Monday night  has been found to have tragically crashed in the sea, killing all occupants.

The single-engine aircraft  coming from Israel, crashed in a sea area, near the airport of Samos island.

The plane tried to land on the island's airport, but failed and crashed into the sea, in the area of ​​Potokaki (in Pythagorion), in southern Samos.

A rescue operation was immediately launched when first reported missing with authorities dispatching a Frontex boat, a Coast Guard boat and a Super Puma helicopter which rushed to the scene only to find wreckage from the aircraft.
