70 percent of Greece's criminal activity occurs in Athens and its surrounds

Police presence in Attica region will be intensified as a 70 percent of the country's criminal activity takes place in and around the capital city, noted Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos in an interview with SKAI on Tuesday.

The minister mentioned that many police departments in Attica are reportedly understaffed, and he said this is why these will soon be strengthened.

Particular emphasis will be paid to police efforts against organized drugs rings, and the issue of narcotics at large, underlined Theodorikakos.

Concerning the vaccination of police officers, he noted that a 22 percent of them remain unvaccinated, but he underlined that a systematic effort to get them to be inoculated will soon bring results.
