Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' announcement that Greece will procure six more Rafale fighter jets from France was widely featured in Turkish media, along with French Defense Minister Florence Parley's welcome of the Greek move.

"Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that the number of Rafale fighter jets that Athens will buy from France will increase from 18 to 24," wrote the Hurriyet newspaper.

They also commented that the increase in Greece's defence spending started last year in the context of an "active diplomacy" to defend its national problems, meaning the differences with Turkey in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Entitled "Sales of new fighter jets from France to Greece," the online edition of the Aydinlik newspaper details the history of Greece acquiring the French-made Rafale jets.

They highlighted the latest statement by the French Minister of Defense after Mitsotakis' announcement at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition.

"French Defence Minister Florence Parley welcomes on social media Greece's plan to buy 6 more Rafale fighter jets from the 18," the newspaper commented.

"Greece increases the number of Rafale fighter jets to 24", is the title of a relevant article by Turkish state news agency Anadolu.
