Gerapetritis: Greece is more ready than ever to face Turkey

By 3 years ago

State Minister George Gerapetritis spoke to SKAI about Greek-Turkish relations and categorically denied that there is a scheduled meeting of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

At the same time, he sent a strong message of readiness emphasising that "we are more ready than ever to face any tension," both on the field and diplomatically.

"There is no scheduled meeting between Mitsotakis and Erdogan. The prime minister has not requested a meeting and as far as I know there is no coincidence in the plans of the two leaders.

"The Greek side is not opposed to having the leaders meet. Always having channels of communication is a useful political route, with a reservation.

"There should be a common ground of understanding at least as far as the basis of our reasoning is concerned.

"If we believe that there is a common understanding, we are proceeding on the basis of international law, which is a general , universal acceptance, and of course we should meet," Gerapetritis said.
