Greece records small decrease in unemployment numbers

Greeceā€™s national employment authority OAED on Monday announced a decrease in registered unemployment people in Greece for the period of August 2021.

Specifically, the number of registered unemployed people totaled 996,733 in August, down 0.55% from July 2021 (1,002,261) and down 8.57% compared with August 2020 (1,090,133).

The number of unemployed people seeking job totaled 977,325 in August, of which 577,344 were long-term unemployed (more than 12 months). Men accounted for 324,128 (33.16%) and women 653,197 (66,84%). The number of unemployed people not seeking job totaled 19,408 in August.

The number of people receiving unemployment benefit was 131,412 in August, of which 31.36% were men and 68.64% women.
