The impetus to expand business relations between Greece and Saudi Arabia was discussed by Greek Development & Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis at a meeting with Saudi Investments Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih in Athens.

According to a statement after the Wednesday meeting, Georgiadis said relations between the two countries have been "at an excellent level for several decades."

He noted that the visit came in the context of a decision between the leaders of the two countries to further expand bilateral relations.

A business delegation will visit Saudi Arabia in October for this purpose, he said, while the visit will be reciprocated by a Saudi delegation to Greece by the end of the year.

Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih said that the relations between the two countries are now being upgraded to a strategic collaboration level, and noted "a unique opportunity to boost bilateral trade and investment flows in both directions."

He said that his visit was very productive, and included agreements with Enterprise Greece to improve Saudi investments in Greece, while another between chambers was expected to be signed on Wednesday as well.

"The dynamic is great, and I believe you will see many investments in both countries, as well as collaborations between businesses in projects of other countries," he noted.

During his Athens visit the Saudi official also met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
