Greek authorities have placed the cities of Kastoria, Xanthi and Drama under lockdown curfew since Thursday due to an alarming spike in coronavirus cases.
As of Thursday, circulation in those regions is forbidden for all reasons except for work and serious health reasons, while music is banned in all entertainment and food places throughout 24 hours.
Local restrictions were extended in other regions of Greece as well, including Pella in northern Greece and the Argolid in the Peloponnese, the committee of infectious diseases specialists said. A ban on outdoor or indoor, private or public spaces of more than 20 people gathering continues to be in effect throughout Greece, regardless of other measures.
The curfew will last until Friday through October 1.
