THEBES: Hercules birthplace raises alarm over earthquake activity

Authorities in Greece are playing close attention to the birthplace of Hercules, Thebes, due to earthquake concerns.

Greece' seismic risk assessment committee is concerned because of the prolonged seismic activity in the area after the last earthquake in Arkalochori.

The committee was convened at 9.3O yesterday evening to evaluate all the data so far in the area.

According to information, the president of OASP, Professor Efthymios Lekkas, suggested that the seismologists and the competent state bodies go immediately to the area of ​​Thebes to examine the situation on the ground and the readiness of the state mechanism in cooperation with the local government as he said we should be prepared.
