International singer-songwriter Sting has celebrated his 70th birthday at the foothills of the Acropolis under the eternal gaze of the Parthenon with his friend, musical legend and former lead singer of the Animals, Eric Burdon.
Sting caught up with Burdon in Athens where he performed at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens on September 30th, and October 1st.
A photo of the pair, taken by Burdon's Greek wife Marianna Proestou was posted on Eric Burdon's facebook page:
" Two Englishmen in Athens! Happy birthday @theofficialsting Love Eric! #acropolis #odeonofherodesatticus Earth's tears 📸Marianna Proestou Burdon" read the post.
A post from Eric Burdon from 29 September 2021, read:
"Two years ago I was performing under the Acropolis to a sold out Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Tonight, I will be joining @nikosportokaloglou and his wonderful team of Greek musicians including @thomaskonstantinou from @takimband with @semeli.re @renamorfi for a special #musicbox performance @ertofficial"
"For me, it was a wonderful experience and I hope the audience felt the same too. It’s been almost 2 years since the last time I had a mic in my hand, singing on stage, and it felt amazing!"
"Tomorrow I will return to the #odeonofherodesatticus to see me marra @theofficialsting and celebrate his 70th!"
