A 34-year-old Iraqi man, who had entered Greece illegally in 2018 from Lesvos and had two asylum applications rejected, was arrested at noon in the centre of Athens, accused of being a member of the ISIS terrorist organization.

The 34-year-old father of four children was targeted by anti-terrorist units and the National Intelligence Service, according to Proto Thema.

A few days ago, information arrived that mentioned the specific actions taken by the jihadist in 2014 and 2015.

He was then immediately located and arrested, with authorities confiscating his mobile phone and searching his house.

The 34-year-old worked in Athens, while his activities in ISIS are said to have been recorded in videos available to the authorities.

He will be brought before the Prosecutor of the Athens Court of First Instance on Tuesday morning.
