Pope Francis sends financial aid of 50,000 euros to fire victims in Greece

Pope Francis has reportedly sent financial aid to the residents of the fire-stricken areas in Greece.

According to Vatican News, Pope Francis sent a financial support package destined to those in Greece affected by fires that devastated several parts of the country, particularly the island of Evia, the Peloponnese and Attica.

Specifically, the amount of 50,000 euros was sent thru Caritas Hellas, the humanitarian branch of the Catholic Church in Greece.

According to a Vatican press release, the donations are meant to express “Pope Francis’ feelings of spiritual closeness and paternal encouragement to the people and territories affected.”

“They accompany prayer and are part of the aid that is being activated throughout the Catholic Church, which also involves numerous charitable organisations.”
