Chios: Comoros-flagged cargo ship drifted off the island on Friday night

A cargo ship registered in the Comoros is adrift in the waters west of the island of Chios, it was reported late Friday evening.

A rope has reportedly wrapped around the propeller of the ship, which is carrying grain and has a crew of 15.

Heading towards the cargo ship were a rescue vessel and a tugboat, while the weather was fair stable and winds did not exceed 4 on the Beaufort scale.
