SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance party leader Alexis Tsipras set a target for victory in the next national elections that “will liberate society from the regime of [Prime Minister Kyriakos] Mitsotakis,” speaking at the main opposition party’s Central Reconstruction Committee convention held in Athens on Saturday.
Part of said target, according to Tsipras, is “to collectively and in coordination complete our planning for the organisational reconstruction, the expansion and the qualitative transformation of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance.”
Moreover, the party’s annual congress, which he has proposed be held on February 24-27, will be a “conference of intersecting parameters and continuity, which will seal the new beginning which we decided to make together, but will also give impetus to our central political goal of forming a new social and political majority, that will bring new victory against the Right, a change in politics, and progressive governance,” he stressed.
The struggle until the elections “is a historic one” as “we must rid the country of this regime of extreme social inequality and the extreme falsehoods that bear Mitsotakis’ signature,” Tsipras added.
“A struggle against those that turned the country back decades over the last two years of their governance,” he underlined.
