Angelina Jolie has just spilled the beans that she is working on a new project that has ties in Greece.
The announcement, made by the Academy Award winning actress Jolie whilst wearing a figure hugging silver Versace gown at The Eternals premiere in Rome, has left fans wondering what…where…when…?!
Jolie was accompanied at the Eternals premier by her two daughters Zahara and Shilo, and the trio held hands while posing for pictures at the event.
Her eldest daughter wore a white gown with gold straps, while Shiloh paired a black dress with polka-dot sneakers.
Jolie has six children including Zahara, 16 and Shilo, 14, along with siblings Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Knox and Vivienne, both 13.
Jolie told the press that her children find her funny, explaining, “I think someone said the other day, ‘Isn’t it amazing you can, like, fly a plane and do all the stuff at the U.N. and you can be in a Marvel movie, but you can’t make eggs?’”
When Jolie was in Greece in 2016 as part of her role as Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, highlighting the migrant crisis. She was mobbed by the media while visiting a migrant reception centre in Piraeus, near Athens, Greece.
Released on the 28 October, Eternals is Jolie’s most recent film and Marvel’s most ambitious MCU movie of the year. The film is off to a great start, already tipped to beat the opening weekends of Black Widow and Shang-Chi, which did very well despite the pandemic.
Eternals is about a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years that reunite to battle some evil Deviants.
Angelina Jolie portrays elite warrior Thena in the film, who was born in the city of Olympia in ancient Greece, and is thus one of the Eternals of Olympia.
Thena is one of the oldest Eternals, and has honed her powers over thousands of years, making her one of the most formidable members of her race. She has the ability to manipulate matter and manifest weapons out of thin air, levitate and teleport among many other strengths.
In preparation for her role, Jolie took ballet lessons and learned how to yield an array of weapons – all of which were added digitally in post-production.
“You’re just throwing your hand out as if you’re thinking, “Is that a sword? Is that a spear? Is it a lasso? What am I doing?” Then you get into it and it gets really fun, but it’s a puzzle,” she said about the process, which led to her feeling a “little nuts”.
Perhaps the upcoming project in Greece that Jolie is remaining tight-lipped about is an Eternals sequel.
We will have to watch this space to find out.
