Dendias to visit Rwanda, expansion of Greek-Rwandan relations

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will pay a visit to Rwanda on Thursday night, where he is expected to meet with the President of the country, Paul Kagame, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta.

The above talks will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Greece and Rwanda in areas of common interest.

In the context of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and promoting the extroversion of Greek investment activities, during the enlarged talks between the two delegations there will be a presentation of investment opportunities in Rwanda by the Deputy CEO of Rwanda Development Board, Zephan, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Patricie Uwase.

The signing of a "Memorandum of Understanding for Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda" is also planned.

With the visit of Dendias, the donation of 330,000 vaccines against COVID-19 will take place. It is noted that Greece had already donated 200,000 vaccines last September.

During his stay in Rwanda, the Foreign Minister will visit and lay a wreath at the Kigali Genocide memorial.

Dendias' visit to Rwanda, which is his first visit to the region, marks the substantial upgrade of the Greek presence in sub-Saharan Africa.
