Greece, Cyprus, France and Egypt meet to discuss Cyprus Issue and regional matters

The foreign ministers of Greece, France, Cyprus and Egypt will be meeting today in Athens to discuss the Cyprus issues and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, Libya, the Gulf, and the Sahel.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, his Cyprus counterpart Nikos Christodoulides, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian  will examine potential cooperation in the energy sector while international challenges such as the pandemic, migration and climate change are also expected to be discussed. There will be statements to the press after the end of the meeting at approximately 15:30.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will have a meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian at 11:00 at the ministry, which will be followed by a broader meeting including the delegations of the two sides, followed by joint statements to the press at 12:15.

The discussion is expected to focus on the excellent level of Greek-French bilateral relations after these were upgraded through the signing of the Greece-France Strategic Partnership Agreement, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Cyprus issue, developments in the Sahel and enhancing cooperation on issues of common interest, a foreign ministry announcement said.
