Rare photo of Greek anarchists in the Spanish Civil War

Greek anarchists Spanish Civil War

The Greek anarchists in the image joined Durruti's brigade.

In this photo, anarchists from the city of Patras are pictured in front of a tank-truck which Notis Papazacharopoulos designed.

Notis was a blacksmith and was working in the Port of Patra in the 1930's.

Notis' brother Babis Papazacharopoulos, also an anarchist, joined the Communist Party of Greece and became guerilla against the Nazi occupation in World War II.

Babis was also exiled in Makronisos (a small island), as were other Leftists.

He always mentioned his brother Notis who was killed in the Battle of Madrid.
