Five known cases of Omicron mutation in Greece

Five cases of the new COVID-19 omicron mutation have been found in Greece, said president of the Scientific Council of the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens (BRFAA) Professor Dimitris Thanos.

Four cases of the variant were traced back to travellers from South Africa and France. The fifth case is close contact of one of the four.

All five people were fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and showed mild symptoms, ie headache, myalgia and fever for 3-4 days.

According to Professor Thanos, who presented the data at a conference, all five omicron mutation cases had a high viral load that was detected during the diagnosis.
