Rachiotis: A "Greek crime" against Russia in relation to Ukraine

Greece by actively participating in US aggression toward Russia is a move that hides a number of risks. If Ukraine is occupied by the NATO Forces with Greek participation, then Russia will be surrounded and will inevitably respond. This is what lawyer Giannis Rachiotis explained to Sputnik Hellas.

"We are involved in a situation that is tantamount to war. This is a crime," he said.

In general, the expert believes that the West is developing a strategy of unbearable tension against Russia with the spearhead of Ukraine and with the aim of "bending the resistance of Russia and even without war."

"The saddest thing is that Greece participates in this situation, and in fact with a leading role since it provides bases in order to be a participant in the plans of the Americans.

"We accepted the strategic role of the USA in our country with the bases making us hostages.

"In this respect, we are participants in the geopolitical crime."

At the same time, he stated that the attempt to strangle Russia can be fatal for both Greece and the Balkans.

"They believe that they will achieve Russia's strategic defeat by the standards they achieved with the Soviet Union," Rachiotis said.

In addition, he emphasised that the Greek government will find it difficult to manage the escalation of American aggression in relation to Russia.

The lawyer believes that only a large popular movement would end the process of turning it into a protectorate.

"At the moment there are no forces that can express the need to close US bases and freedom from the EU and NATO," he said.

"Without these conditions, little can be done for a balanced relationship between Greece and the non-NATO world.

"On the contrary, with what does not exist in the political system, a significant percentage of the popular strata would be willing to engage in a struggle for independence.

"This is one of the main contradictions that characterise the Greek state today."
